Vagelled (Music Recording, Translation)

Poet: Alwine Wuthenow
English Translation from Platt Deutsch: Paul Kraczek
Composer: Luise Greger

I don't have a big house, but rather a small nest.
However; take a look; I have many dear guests.
I have neither meat nor bread, nor flour in the barrel,
But I shall be full the whole day long,
But I shall be full the whole day long.

I also do not have any clothes, neither shoes nor coat.
Over naked legs, I merely wear tail feathers.
I don't have lamp or light. Does that trouble you?
The dear sun is my lamp, it requires no oil,
The dear sun is my lamp, it requres no oil.

I am a small bird that can't do very much,
But am happier than many a man.
But am much happier than many a man.
