My love is a hunter, a hunter he must be
The forest belongs to the hunter, the hunter belongs to me...
My love carries a rifle, and his jacket is green
A feather in his hat, this endears him to me.
All I have is a spinning wheel and a plain pair of shoes
My love has a cottage and a fine garden, too
He has barrels of flour and flocks of geese
But his sweetest treasure is the free life he leads
So let me dance and sing for a while
My love is a hunter, so happy am I!
