Die schöne Welt (Music Recording, Translation)

Poet: Friedrich Eggers
English Translation: Jameson Reiley
Composer: Luise Greger

The sea is singing, how lovely it sounds!
It sings by night and by day
The pines on the hilltops
Hear the singing and murmur along.

The birds in the green forests listen
And spread the song through bush and branch,
The flowers respond from below,
They hear the singing and whisper along.

I walk on the shore, I walk in the woods
I feel myself surrounded with music
It echos and sounds in every thing
That lovely, lovely song.

What is this song on the hills and the vales
That causes such pleasure all around?
The beginning goes thus: "Our world is beautiful!"
And the end: "So beautiful is our world!"
