Countess Wilhelmine Wickenburg-Almásy was born in Almásy, but at an early age she moved with her father, the count of Almásy to Vienna, where she obtained an excellent education and began writing poetry. Her future husband, also a poet and a count, read her poetry after it had been published and liked it so much that he moved to Vienna, with the hopes of meeting her. They met and were later married. They spent their combined lives writing, singing, and traveling. The countess passed away at age 44 in Bolzano, Italy in 1890.
